Kelly has been counseling at Sparrow House since 2020. Originally from Tulsa, OK, she attended the University of Arkansas and received her B.A. in Psychology in 2014. After college, she had the honor of working with children and their families in the public school system. This stoked her desire to learn more about counseling, so a few years later, she decided to pursue graduate studies at Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, MS. She graduated from there in 2020 with her M.A. in Counseling.
Having been a counseling client herself, Kelly is incredibly thankful for her past counselors and desires to embody the same curiosity and compassion for her clients that was given to her. Kelly is especially passionate about caring for those who have experienced trauma in a religious setting, those who feel entangled in their family of origin, and those who feel their anxiety is simply an inescapable way of life. She uses her training to help her clients move away from reactive feelings, thoughts, and actions (those teeth-clenching, gut-turning moments), and toward calm, conscious and deliberate ones.
Kelly works with both individuals and couples around a variety of issues, including anxiety and depression, communication skills, and relationship distress. As a certified Gottman Level I therapist, she works from an emotion-focused approach to help couples identify the root of conflict, break disruptive cycles, and move towards productive and fulfilling relationships. She is also certified to use the Prepare-Enrich method for premarital counseling.
In her free time, Kelly loves weightlifting, street tacos, craft coffee, and spending quality time with her husband and friends.
