Cristina is a licensed professional counselor and is also pursuing her licensure in marriage and family therapy. In 2003, Cristina graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. While in college, Cristina developed her interest in working with adolescents and families through her internship with Student Venture, a Campus Crusade high school ministry, and through her work at Hope Pregnancy Center. Cristina also served as a volunteer leader with Lake Highlands Young Life for six years. After college, Cristina pursued her Masters in Counseling at Dallas Baptist University. In 2009, Cristina began a Doctorate Program in School Psychology to further specialize in child and adolescent issues at Texas Women’s University.
Professionally, Cristina has had a variety of experience including home based counseling, the family preservation program with the juvenile department, and recently as a treatment manager at Green Oaks Psychiatric Hospital. These experiences have developed Cristina’s professional specialties in family conflict, adjustment issues, crisis intervention, mental illness management, self esteem, body image, defiance, and anger issues as they relate to the adolescent and family. This variety of work experiences also has enriched the knowledge and skills Cristina provides to families and adolescents.
After experiencing healing from her parent’s divorce as an adolescent, Cristina set forth on her passion to help build healthy families. Cristina partners with parents to develop healthy, well adjusted young adults that are equipped to face new challenges in life. Personally, Cristina loves to spend time with her family, friends, and especially her husband, Greg. Additionally, Cristina loves to play tennis, run, and be outside in the sun!
